In simple language Wi-Fi hotspot enables you to share internet connection between Wi-Fi enabled devices. You can imagine it like your phone converted into a Wi-Fi router itself and sharing internet between Wi-Fi devices.

If you have Wi-Fi hotspot feature you can share internet between many devices and at the same time you can use it on your own phone. It should be noted that this is going to be a shared connection so speed limitations will be there.

Some facts about Wi-Fi hotspot and India:

Some mobile companies or salesmen try to catch you by exaggerating Wi-Fi hotspot but actual things might be a way different.

Mobile internet speeds are not so great in India. We are still in 2G. GPRS gives speed of maximum 144 kbps in strong network areas. Such low speed are not even enough for self surfing, forget sharing!

Recently networks have been upgraded to 3G, claiming 21.6 Mbps speed, where you can take some advantage of Wi-Fi hotspot if signal strength is strong.

3G is costly at launch. Having Wi-Fi hotspot at the moment would be useless in most of the cases unless you can find a good 3G operator with unlimited data plan or large download plan at cheap rates. Nearly impossible at the stage Smile with tongue out

    recently i have purchased a galaxy tab model p 1010 having only wifi/bluetooth option kindly advise me aabout hotspot or wife ruter which enables speed internet and minimun cost& plan
