Is someone stealing money from your website ?

Seems impossible and weird. Stealing money from a bank account is acceptable thing but from website ? Yes, that is true and every web master should take care of this.
When a hacker hacks a website, he tries to take website down or redirect. But some hackers don’t change anything in website which is visible. All they change is adsense publisher id.
The change is so slight that webmasters hardly notice it unless they see source code of his website, that not everyone checks frequently. Replacement of adsense code can be noticed only if webmaster is aware of his publisher id else one won’t even notice that he is hacked and money is going away.
How to prevent your site from such hacks:
- Always monitor page impressions from your adsense account.
- If you find illegal injected adsense code in your site, report the publisher id to email of adsense adsense-support@google.com with proofs.
- Apply 544 file permissions to your files/ theme files in CMS like wordpress, joomla etc.
- Always have only one admin account and keep the password secure. Use other user level available. i.e Editor, Moderator etc.
- Use access levels in FTP accounts. i.e. Root level access, some folder level access.
- Do not use same password as any other site account, if one site is vulnerable it will effect your site too.
- Always use a good antivirus in PCs from where you access your site backend.
- Try to access your site’s backend from a single PC.
