Speed up browsing – Some firefox tips

Posted By: KP On January 3, 2009 Under Firefox Tricks and Tips, Tips and Tricks Categories

It’s not tech configuring tips for speeding up your daily browsing speed but its the changing attitude of browsing.

Firefox has some inbuilt features that makes you browse speedily but many people are not aware of these.

1. Firefox has default redirect to Google “I m feeling Lucky”.

You must be thinking how this thing can be helpful ?

For example you need to visit a website, lets say, yahoo.com. So just type yahoo in address bar and press enter.

You can use it for all the famous websites. Type orkut and press enter, you will be redirected to orkut.com

Another use of the feature is if you are finding/ in need of some product or anything then just type it out.

If at any moment I want to download Internet download manager then I will just type it and it will take me to official site or download page in most of the cases.

This is also useful in finding some info about any topic. Type your keyword in address bar and you will be on the most related page.

You can treat it as Google’s shortcut !

2. Remembering some useful shortcuts may increase your speed.

CTRL + T – Gives you a new tab

F5 refreshes the page

F6  – Makes Address bar active.(Puts cursor there to type)

F7 – Actives the special mode where you can navigate on page by keyboard (very useful when you are not having mouse or less used to it)

Apart from these non-tech things, some deep tech settings are there in firefox config file which are to be seen some day later.
